Will it cool my whole house?

No, and nobody selling you one honestly should say otherwise. This is a 14,000 BTU single-room unit rated to 700 sq ft. A verified buyer put it best: it will not cool an entire home or an entire floor, but one bedroom, office, den or workout room it will do, and do well. One owner keeps a 20 x 24 ft room with a vaulted ceiling at 73F. If you want more than one room, leave the doors open and expect the far rooms to come down a few degrees, not to match.

Is it quiet enough to sleep next to?

Sleep Mode runs at 42 dB, which is roughly a quiet library or a fridge humming across the room, and the display dims itself at the same time. Owners describe it as 'not loud but not quiet either' and say it does not interfere with sleep. It is a compressor, so it is not silent. Anything that claims silence at 14,000 BTU is not telling you the truth.

Do I have to empty a water tank?

In cooling mode, almost never. The 72-hour auto-evaporation system recycles condensate back over the condenser and blows it out of the window with the exhaust, so in normal humidity there is nothing to empty. One owner specifically called out 'no worrying about drainage at least on cooling mode'. Running it as a dehumidifier in a damp basement is the exception, and that is what the included drain hose is for. Attach it once and let it run to a floor drain.

Will it go musty like my last one?

That is what the auto-dry cycle is for. When you switch the unit off, the fan keeps running to dry the evaporator so moisture is not left sitting inside. A buyer who had to throw away a previous portable AC because it grew mould he could not clean out bought this one specifically for that feature and reports no smell after six weeks. If you get a faint odour out of the box, run it on Fan for fifteen minutes with a window open and it clears.

Will it trip my breaker?

It draws 1,200 watts, which is about 10 amps, on a 115 V outlet. That is fine on its own dedicated 15 A circuit. It is not fine sharing a circuit with a gaming PC, a NAS, a space heater or a microwave. Our one 3-star reviewer found exactly that and could not run his AC and his PC at once. Put it on a wall outlet that is not shared with other heavy loads, and never on a thin household extension lead. The heavy-duty 12 AWG appliance cord in the add-ons exists for this.

Will the window kit fit my window?

The included kit fits horizontal and vertical sliding windows with an opening from 20.39 in to 67 in, which covers most American double-hung and slider windows. It does not fit crank-out casement windows or awning windows without the universal casement seal, which is in the All-Weather Setup. Check your window before you order, because it is the one thing that turns a 20-minute job into a bad afternoon.

How hard is the setup, really?

Tool-free and about 20 minutes. Panels slide to length, the hose twists onto the back and clips into the window bracket. Buyers who described themselves as nervous about it still got it done, and several called it seamless. If you would rather not lift it alone, get a second pair of hands: the unit is 66 lb.

How heavy is it and can I move it between rooms?

66 lb on four casters. Rolling it across a level floor is easy. Carrying it up a flight of stairs is a two-person job, and lifting it into a bath to drain it, which you should not need to do, is definitely two people. Most owners install it once and leave it for the season.

Rated at 900 kWh a year, which at the US average of about 17 cents a kWh is roughly $150 across a full cooling season, or a little over a dollar a day if you run it every day of the summer. Eco and Sleep modes cycle the compressor down and cut that. It uses R32 refrigerant, which carries a lower global warming potential than the R410A in older units.

You have 60 days. Install it, run it through a real heatwave, and if it does not hold your room at a temperature you are happy with, send it back for a full refund. You do not need to give us a reason.
